In the memory of the late Warren Jones. A man who had such an impact on yachting in Australia.
Warren Jones of ‘Australia II’ fame died suddenly on May 17th 2002. His sudden and untimely death was a bitter blow to his many friends throughout the National and International Sailing Community.
Warren made a fabulous contribution to local and international yachting with perhaps his greatest achievement occurring in September 1983, when he led a group of Australian yachtsmen to victory with the winning of the America’s Cup.
The yacht was “Australia II” and many will remember this feat and all Australian sailors will appreciate the significance this win had on yachting, not only in Australia, but also around the world.
In Warren’s honor a committee was formed and in turn the Warren Jones International Youth Regatta commenced in 2003.
This International Youth Match Racing event, is fast becoming one of the most prestigious youth events in the southern hemisphere.
The aim for this yachting regatta is to give a new generation of Australian yachtsmen and women the chance to live their dreams as Warren did.
This regatta has been named in memory of a great man, one who had enormous amounts of energy, a competitive spirit, great courage and determination to reach his goals.

Colin Mullins Youth Regatta

The regatta is named after the late Colin Mullins, who was a prominent Perth businessman, keen yachtsman and was instrumental in establishing the International Warren Jones Youth Regatta.
The inaugural Colin Mullins Regatta winner, Keith Swinton commented “I am delighted with the win and would like to thank both the Mullins family for their support of the event and my team who helped make the win possible”.
