The Western Australian Yachting Foundation Inc (WAYF). was established in 1988, in the wake of the Americas Cup challenge in Fremantle. The Foundation’s aim was to promote Perth, Western Australia as a world acclaimed yachting venue.
After two decades in the yachting business, the Foundation has grown from strength to strength, now attracting top corporate companies from all around the globe for their Swan River Sailing packages.
Whilst building and maintaining a core corporate clientele, the Foundation has developed many sailing and youth match racing events. The Warren Jones International Youth Regatta was established in late 2002 and has become a very successful annual event hosted by Royal Perth Yacht Club on odd years and Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club every even year. The event was founded to help promote and develop youth sailing and was named in memory of the late Warren Jones, an Australian sailing legend.Operating from the grounds of the prestigious Royal Perth Yacht Club, the Yachting Foundation is ideally located, situated on the shores of the beautiful Matilda Bay, just 8 minutes from the CBD.
The WA Yachting Foundation offers corporate regattas & teambuilding, training for community groups, leisure sailing and twilight races on their brand new fleet of Peter Milner built Foundation 36 yachts. The sailing outings are designed to cater for all levels of sailing experience.
The Foundation also offers training for the mandatory power boat license, the Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST). This training caters for all levels of competence, from boating novices through to experienced boaters who must comply with the regulations as handed down by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure.
The success of the Foundation over the years has led to their upgrade and expansion of their fleet of yachts. They currently have 12 foundation yachts and can cater for groups of over 200 pax at any one time.
